Ingredients

Servings:
1
  • 2 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder
  • 2 tbsp hot water (80°C, not boiling)
  • 250ml oat milk (or any milk)
  • 1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup
  • Optional: vanilla extract, cinnamon

Instructions

  1. 1

Sift matcha powder into a small bowl or mug to remove lumps.

  2. 2

Add hot water (80°C — boiling water makes matcha bitter).

  3. 3

Whisk vigorously in a W or M motion with a bamboo whisk (chasen) or small regular whisk until smooth and frothy with no lumps.

  4. 4

Heat oat milk in a saucepan or microwave until hot but not boiling. Froth with a milk frother or whisk.

  5. 5

Add honey to the matcha paste and stir.

  6. 6

Pour warm frothed milk over the matcha. Stir gently to combine. Serve immediately.
