Ingredients

Servings:
4
  • 700g ribeye or sirloin, very thinly sliced
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 Asian pear or kiwi, grated
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1cm ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • Lettuce leaves, rice, and kimchi to serve

Instructions

  1. 1

Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, grated pear, garlic, and ginger. Mix well.

  2. 2

Add sliced beef and toss to coat. Marinate at least 30 minutes, ideally 2 hours.

  3. 3

Heat a cast-iron grill pan or BBQ over very high heat.

  4. 4

Cook beef in batches, 1-2 minutes per side. Don't overcrowd — you want caramelization, not steaming.

  5. 5

Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

  6. 6

Serve wrapped in lettuce leaves with rice and kimchi.
